The more I talked to people, the more I become convinced that companies across the board are laying-off workers that are at least 42+ years old and replacing them with someone who are in their 20’s or early 30’s. They weren’t being replaced because they were poor performers in their departments. I think this is the company’s’ way of making its shareholders happy. However way they can cut costs, companies will do them. So, if you’re in your late 30’s, start planning your immediate future. Consider looking for new opportunities while you have a job because once you have gap-years in your work history, it becomes harder to secure employment.
